J. Richard Karnes, CPA, PFS, Principal

J. Richard KarnesRichard offers a wide range of experience to our clients. He graduated from Lamar University prior to beginning his career with a large national accounting firm. After spending a number of years as a financial executive with several large companies, he returned to public accounting with his own firm. With a desire to broaden the services provided to his clients, Richard co-founded Texas Asset Management in 1999, offering personal financial planning and asset management to enhance his traditional tax and business consulting services. Richard has an extensive background in both individual and business tax matters and has considerable experience working with executives and small business owners on their tax and wealth management issues.

John Brodnax, CPA, CFP®, Attorney, Principal

John BrodnaxJohn brings a wealth of experience to the firm’s clients. After graduating from the University of Texas with a Masters in Professional Accountancy (Taxation), he worked in the Tax Department of a Big Eight accounting firm before obtaining his law degree from the University of Houston. He later opened his own accounting and law practice. John co-founded Texas Asset Management in 1999, offering personal financial planning and asset management to enhance his traditional tax and law services. He has an in-depth knowledge of individual income taxation issues and wealth transfer planning techniques.

Gary Miller, CFP®, Advisor

Gary MillerGary was one of Texas Asset Management’s first clients. He soon came to appreciate the difference that the objective investment counsel provided by a fee-only advisor could make to his portfolio. After a successful life as an entrepreneur and chief financial officer, he returned to school at the University of Texas to obtain his Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. His undergraduate college degree in psychology from Texas Tech University has helped him listen closely to clients and understand their real objectives.
